UPDATE - EWENS PONDS HAS REOPENED FOR SCUBA ACAIVITITES
Ewens Ponds is having a staged reopening after a period of closure due to low water levels and reduced flows. Aquatic vegetation in the ponds is still recovering following the dramatic drop in water levels and the impact of water birds having more ready access to the vegetation. Significant amounts of aquatic vegetation loss has occurred.
As the ponds are still in a recovery phase, changes to visitation permit conditions are to apply as a short term management measure.
Permits are currently open for snorkelling. Diving is permitted when participating as part of a guided and accredited tour ONLY. Free Diving, body boards, blow-up floatation devices, or any form of boating is NOT permitted. Snorkelling and Diving permits are currently being issued for timeslots 1 week in advance while the ponds continue to recover. The site conditions will continue to be monitored by NPWS staff, with increased ranger presence to ensure compliance with permits.

If you have been out of the water a while, new to diving fresh water or nervous the double dive is perfect for you to get back into the water refresh your skills get used to weighting required for freshwater diving then enjoy two of Australia's best freshwater dive site available to recreational dives back to back.

Ewens Ponds
Open water SCUBA certification required
Maximum Depth: 10 meters
Water Temperature: 15-degrees C - (Minimum of 5mm full length wetsuit required)
Visibility: 50m to +80m
Minimum age is 12 years old for SCUBA and 6 years old for snorkelling (by special arrangement).
Kilsbys Sinkhole - Open water SCUBA certification required
Dive time: ~45mins aprox
Maximum Depth: 27 meters (Open Water Lake Zone no decompression no overhead)
Water Temperature: 15-degrees C - (Minimum of 5mm full length wetsuit required)
Visibility: 50m to +80m aprox
Minimum is age 15yrs (below by special arrangement only)
